National Award Winner - "Indivisible"
This bracelet was a collaborative effort of a family of ex-New Yorkers who loved the skyline of New York City.
It was 1997 when Karen first had the idea to make a bracelet depicting her favorite skyline. Trying to keep it cost-effective and affordable, Carol used a computer to print out a picture of a generic city. She then altered the picture and drew in the Empire State Building in midtown and the world Trade Center, downtown.
Joe (who semi-retired in 1999) went to work on the model, using Carol’s picture to produce a wax. He then cast the bracelet in one piece, solid 14 karat yellow gold. The bracelet sold right away and Kenny wanted to make another one in two-tone, but other demands of the business kept him from doing so.
Then came the tragic events of September 11, 2001 and Gold In Art was inspired to re-make the bracelet as a tribute and a reminder of our great loss. This time is had to be much more than a bracelet; it had to be a work of art. Completely scrapping the original, Richard started from scratch, meticulously hand-carving a view of the city from Brooklyn, with the Twin Towers as the centerpiece. He created it in two pieces – skyline in platinum and the background in 22 karat yellow gold. Diamonds were set in the World Trade Center to accentuate their beauty and an “award winning” piece of jewelry was born.
In October 2002 we entered “Indivisible” in the Florida Jeweler’s Association design contest. It won “Best of show” in the State of Florida. It was then eligible to be entered in the national design contest sponsored by Jewelers of America, which took place in New York City in January 2003. Competing against the “Best of Show’ from every state, the Jewelers of America voted “Indivisible” #1 in its category and “Best of Show” in the nation.
It is a privilege and joy to share this artistic expression of our love for New York and the United States of America, with you, our customers and friends.
