About the 4Cs
Because diamonds are so valuable, it's essential to have a universal grading system for comparing their quality. In the 1940's and "50s, Gemological Institute of America (GIA) developed the 4Cs and the GIA International Diamond Grading Systemä to objectively compare and evaluate diamonds.
Each characteristic is graded individually, and each characteristic will affect the overall price of the diamond.
